Other aspects of wearing a uniform that are equally important.
1. The uniform gives witness to the fact that the person is a student
and should comport himself as one. A uniform is used to modify and control behavior
2. The uniform is a great leveler. It makes it hard to discern who is rich and who is poor and the students can more easily integrate across class boundaries.
Amen! Love it. We've had a dress code in our homeschooling co-op for 3 years now. It might only be one day a week, but it is necessary for our students. The disciplining of the mind includes the disciplining of the body
“Since there are no ladies present”, whispered Pickett. Lee happened by and hearing Pickett, “I would remind you sirs, there are gentlemen present”. Duty and honor are virtual companions.
Forgive this untaught in badly lettered comment. I am convinced that my IQ is probably not that high and so therefore I am unable to write as impressively as many who are on this wonderful platform. Nevertheless I have two thoughts that I hope to make quick and engaging. One is that writers like Nicholas celeb and Seneca both encourage a form of discomfort to the student as it helps to focus the mind on the task at hand instead of allowing for the comfort to breed confusion within the student. Two, I don't know if this applies to all gender relations, but I find that the encouragement of casual dress in learning creates an advantage to the females versus the males. For example I have found that my wife is able to read in exceptionally comfortable clothes in her bed or on the couch. In fact I have seen her read a 200 Page novel in one sitting in such dress. Well I can hardly get through one page in such a state, yet if I am dressed for work and I'm sitting at my writing desk I can like my wife push through many reams of papers or pages of nonfiction and fiction books. Therefore for the sake of the young men and their pursuit of excellence in education, I would highly recommend being uncomfortable in your dress to focus your mind.
