Like many others in the classical Christian school movement, I got caught up in the challenging endeavor of trying to provide others with the kind of education I had not received. This is obviously a challenge—water trying to rise above its own level—but there are workarounds and hacks. For most in this position, it means becoming something of an autodidact. This means becoming, to some extent at least, a self-taught reader of books. I thought that perhaps it might be of some encouragement to others if I described a bit of what it was like for me.
